The Competition Leads
Co-Lead, Senior Design
Michael is the Co-lead for senior design for the 2019 Ontario Engineering Competition. He is in his fourth year of studies in Automation, with an interest in controls. Within his position, he is responsible for co-planning the senior design competition's challenges and logistics. In his free time, he enjoys watching Netflix, playing Frisbee and playing with Arduino boards.
Co-Lead, Senior Design
Maninder is the Co-lead for senior design for the 2019 Ontario Engineering Competition. He is in his second year of studies in Software Engineering. Within his position, he is responsible for co-planning the senior design competition's challenges and logistics. His previous experience includes competing in robotics competitions, hackathons, and organizing MEC. During his free time Maninder enjoys basketball, Netflix, mentoring robotics team, and programming.
Lead, Junior Design
Andrew is the lead for junior design for the 2019 Ontario Engineering Competition. He is in his sixth year of studies in Mechatronics Engineering and Management (Co-op). Andrew competed in the Junior Design Competition at OEC 2015 and sat on the OEC Advisory Board in 2017-2018. When he's not trying to graduate, he is reading sci-fi, playing the drums or playing rugby.
Nathan is the consulting competition lead for the 2019 Ontario Engineering Competition. He is in his second year of studies in Electrical Engineering at McMaster University. In his free time Nathan enjoys playing the piano, watching/playing soccer and going on hikes.
Lead, Innovative Design
Bailey is the Competition Lead for Communications and Innovation. She is in her fourth year of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. Her role is to plan and organize these two competitions from the initial details to the day of. In her free time she enjoys hiking, painting, and playing the ukulele.
Christa is the Re-Engineering Competition Lead for the 2019 Ontario Engineering Competition. She is entering her third year of studies in Civil Engineering and Society, planning to minor in Sustainability. Christa is responsible for the design and implementation of the Re-Engineering Competition for OEC 2019. In her free time Christa enjoys photography, hiking, swimming and yoga. Christa is also involved in the annual Troitsky Bridge Building competition held at Concordia University.
Sophia is the programming competition lead for OEC 2019. She studies software engineering at McMaster University and has extensive experience in hackathons and programming competitions. Last year, she attended OEC 2018 as a competitor. In her free time she writes fantasy novels and plays the piano.
Mahnoor is in her second year of software engineering at McMaster University. She is the debate competition lead for OEC 2019. Her previous experience includes many debate tournaments, a variety of volunteer leadership positions, and previous involvement with the MEC. When she’s not frantically solving proofs in discrete mathematics and working for the OEC, she enjoys watching Marvel movies, reading and exploring cities.
